What is a golf ball marker?

In golf, a ball marker is a small object, typically a coin or disc, that is used to mark the position of a golfer's ball on the putting green. After a golfer has marked the position of their ball with the ball marker, they can then lift and clean their ball without moving its position.

The ball marker is usually placed directly behind the ball, in line with the hole, and is often removed once the golfer is ready to putt. The use of a ball marker is a common practice in golf, as it allows golfers to play on the putting green without disturbing the positions of other players' balls.
