How we made our first custom ball marker

HOW IT ALL STARTED.....

Here we are, over 5 years later, reflecting back to where it all started. As two guys playing college golf and about to pursue the game professionally, we were trying to find ways to make some extra money without interfering with travel and practice. A few Long weeks of brainstorming all led to the idea of something in the golf market that we had never seen before. While I was already stamping the backs of my college teammates’ wedges, we thought of a less risky idea. “Why don’t we make custom ball markers? We can stamp and paint them just like tour pros do with their wedges. That way if we mess up, we don’t ruin a whole wedge also.” Quickly after loving the idea, we made our first custom ball marker…. and we thought it was SWEET!

How good is that…… As days and weeks went on testing the art of stamping, we finally dialed in a DECENT looking product and were ready to start selling some ball markers. BUT WAIT…, you need a name to start a business! We brainstormed for a while and long behold, finally, found A Name that sounded nice. I asked Al, “What’s your middle name?” Al said, “Johnston,” I told him mine was Gray. We thought it sounded nice and boom, there you have it. Johnston Gray was born!

As we look back, it is crazy to see how far Johnston Gray has come. Johnston Gray has allowed us to meet so many amazing people while doing something we love and are passionate about. That’s why we 110 Percent know that golf is the most amazing game in the world. We would not be here without the AMAZING support of all of our customers. We promise to keep bringing fun fresh products to the golf world and are super pumped about the next 5 years! Remember to go out and find your fairway. Cheers!
